Question: doe anyone know of any alternative tax free income investments to invest in?
Answer: Municipal Bonds from your home state.
All Interest from municipal bonds or bond funds is exempt from Federal Income and may be exempt from your state income tax also but the rules vary by state.
Don’t let the tax liability drive your decision though. I would rather make 8% and pay taxes than make 4% tax free.
