Question: Boyfriends Parents are our Landlords help????
My boyfriends parents have let us move into their investment home making them our landlord.. I came home yesterday and everything had been cleaned vaccumed and scrubbed she had gone through our bedroom and helping herself to our stuff ….. I know she is the landlord but is she allowed to do this?? Its very annoying as when i go home i dont want to have to see his parents all the time … should they act like proper landlords and not like parents to their son and his girlfriend (me)??
we arent getting a good deal we are paying x2 more than we were at our old place and she is charging us at the going price for the area….. She is making us pay as if we were “client” but then treating it like it is her home .. if she was give us a good deal it wouldnt bother me so much
Answer: You’ve found the main problem with doing business with relatives. It’s very hard to decide where the various lines should be drawn,
I think your choices are:
1) Put up with the way things are
2) Move somewhere you’re not related to the landlord
3) Get your boyfriend to tell his mom to stop coming in to the apartment when you’re not home
Only you can decide which of those Options you prefer.
