Edward Jones Investments Feedback

Question: I need some feedback on E.Jones Investment?

My son has a trust he wants to move to Edward Jones Investments. What I want to know is if anyone knows anything about this company.

Answer: Edwards Jones does have a perfectly fine reputation. The issue isn’t so much the firm…while that IS important to a certain extent…what matters most is the individual Advisor that your son will be working with.

The previous answer referred to E.J. having “more offices than any other firm”…well, that’s because most “major” firms (Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, etc) have many Advisors working in large offices. (i.e. when I was with Morgan Stanley…14-17 brokers/advisors) Edward Jones is typically (majority of the time) a “one man shop”…..sometimes with some limited staff or assistant…so, each “office” is made up of 1-5 people (not necessarily advisors, but people).

Edward Jones is just as fine a firm as any other “decent size” investment firm. They do have a high “Advisor satisfaction” score with their brokers, pretty consistently.

Again, the important issues are…how KNOWLEDGEABLE and ETHICAL the advisor is…that will determine the quality of experience your son will have, more than which of the top 10 firms he’s working with.
