Question: im young and want good solid 10 year investments that will make me a lot of money?
im 20 n im lookin to invest in something or things that i will be able to make money from n have in 10 years thanks. preferably real estate is my passion n i want to make it a career a professional investor if that is possible. information needed
Answer: Buy a plain vanilla equity fund comprised of both US and foreign stocks with a mandate requiring diciplined management.
The greatest barrier to strong returns over a 10 year period in the stock market is…….you.
Put in as much money as you can afford without having to dip into it, every month, use professional money management (hence the investment fund suggestion above) and no matter what CNN tells you and no matter what your family and friends tell you, and no matter what you hear from a media shill on the radio, in the paper and ESPECIALLY on Oprah or Dr. Phil, DO NOT SELL IT.
If you employ this strategy faithfully the particular fund you use is immaterial. The fact is you will outperform 90% of your neighbours.
People get INVESTOR returns in the stock market. They almost NEVER get INVESTMENT returns.
