International Company For Finance And Investments
Question: Best Accounting or Finance Professional exams?
Hi,
I’m an international student currently taking a gap year after finishing my first year of undergraduate BSc Investments (Cass).
I’m keen on enrolling myself to one of the professional courses so that I could at least earn a qualification before deciding I want to complete my 4-yr degree.
Could anyone recommend any professional accounting or financial courses and institution I’m eligible to attend full-time classes?
I just know that CFA only allows final year student to sit for the exam and London School of Business and Finance.
Other than that, I have no idea what’s the difference between CMA, ACCA, ACA, etc.
I enjoyed studying economics and financial accounting as well as quantitative methods and company valuation.
I look forward to working in the UK and Asian countries.
Much appreciated for your help.
Answer: It depends on what you want to do in your work with your qualification. If you want to work in one of the big firms like Price Waterhouse Coopers or run your own accounting practice, you’re probably best to go for Chartered – ACA. You usually need to be in a practice to do your ACA, I think.
CIMA is Cost and Management accounting, which is very useful in the accounts departments of big companies.
ACCA is also recognised by corporations. It’s often the route taken by people who have done their accounting technician qualifications first.
Check out the websites for each of the bodies for more information on what each of them covers and think what you want to do afterwards with your qualification.
Good luck!
