Automatic Investments

automatic investments
Question: sharebuilder?

I’m thinking about opening an account with sharebuilder, but I’m a bit confused. Was looking mostly at the basic plan, says it’s $4 per transaction or something, but can only be done on Tuesdays. So… I pay $4 regardless of how much of a stock I buy? How much does it cost when I want to sell that stock? It says something about automatic investments on the site, what does that mean? If someone could just explain how this account works, that would be great. Thanks.

Answer: I checked out sharebuilder once. I didn’t sign up because of those automatic investments. What that means is you basically by the same stock or several stocks with regular money you contribute every week or every month. It’s for long term holding basically. I’m not even sure how you’d sell a stock with their program.

If you want to buy and sell when you want, check out e-trade or ameritrade. I use a site called mbtrading.com, it works pretty well.
